On 23 November 2024 the outage of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant Unit 6 was completed and after an inspection by the Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency the Unit was connected to the national grid at 10:07 am.

Pursuant to Kozloduy NPP programme for diversification of fresh nuclear fuel supplies, on 04 February, 2021, the plant signed a contract with Westinghouse Electric Sweden for the development of safety analyses for licensing and implementing of alternative nuclear fuel on Unit 5 operating at a thermal output of 3120 MW.

From the beginning of 2020 until 02:30 pm on 30 December, 2020, Kozloduy NPP generated 16,555,000 МWh of electricity, strictly adhering to all the requirements for safe operation. With this, the nuclear power plant reached its peak production of the previous year. Within the remaining hours until the end of 2020, Units 5 and 6 are expected to mark a new production record by reaching the total figure of 16,626,000 MWh.
