KOZLODUY NPP UNIT 5 POWER IS TO BE PREVENTIVELY REDUCED WITH ABOUT 120 MW ON 21 AUGUST20.08.2026The decision for the preventive reduction of Unit 5 power with about 120 MW is a part of the measures taken to ensure Kozloduy NPP safe operation. It is based on the continuous unprecedented and critical decline in the Danube River water level. The forecasts for the river levels upstream of the Bulgarian section show a trend for decline.

KOZLODUY NPP IS OPERATING IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE POWER GENERATION SCHEDULE31.07.2026In light of the low water level of the Danube River, a special task force was promptly established at Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant in early July 2026 to manage the situation. A programme developed for this purpose is being implemented, which includes all necessary measures to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the plant’s power units during a prolonged drop in river levels.
