DELEGATION FROM THE NUCLEAR ENERGY AGENCY WITH THE OECD ON A VISIT TO KOZLODUY NPP

Mr. Nobuhiro Muroya, Deputy Director-General for Management and Planning of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), arrived on an official visit to Kozloduy NPP on 29 January, 2020. The delegation included three more experts from the Agency, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Energy. The visit is in connection with Bulgaria’s application for membership in the NEA, made in October last year.
Kozloduy NPP’s CEO, Nasko Mihov, pointed out the importance of the meeting and emphasized the significant role of international cooperation for the development of nuclear energy. For his part, Nobuhiro Muroya stressed the good level of operation of nuclear facilities at the Bulgarian plant and presented the steps ahead in the process of the country’s official accession to the NEA.
During the meeting with managers and experts from the Company, Svetozar Vasilev, Head of Safety Department, presented the current state of Kozloduy NPP and the priority projects providing prospects for its future development. The participants in the delegation also received detailed answers to their questions on topics in the fields of safety culture, emergency preparedness, cooperation with Bulgarian and foreign organisations and others.
The visit programme of the guests continued with a walkdown on the plant site, including the turbine hall and control room of Unit 5, the spent fuel storage and the Full-Scope Simulator for units with WWER-1000 reactors, in the Training Center.
