KOZLODUY NPP SIGNED A CONTRACT FOR MODERNISATION OF CONTROL SYSTEMS
In order to extend the operational lifetime of the control systems of Units 5 and 6, on 16 January, 2020 Kozloduy NPP signed a contract with Westinghouse Energy Systems LLC – Bulgaria Branch KCHT for migration of Unit 5 and 6 computer information and control system Ovation to the latest generation Ovation platform. The scope of the contract envisages integration of the system for visual display of safety parameters and symptom-oriented emergency procedures in the Ovation system, as well as partial modernisation of the Full Scope Simulator for WWER-1000 units.
This will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the computer information and control system in the coming years, as well as sufficient backup capacity for its future expansion, if necessary. The new control system meets the highest modern achievements for protection of NPP control and instrumentation systems from cyber attacks, and exceeds the currently applicable standards in this field. This is a new generation automated system used to control the technological processes in the nuclear power plant, which guarantees the reliable operation of Units 5 and 6 during the long-term operation of the nuclear facilities in the next 30 years.
The contract has an execution term of 36 months and Bulgarian companies are also included as subcontractors.
